Worth knowing about the 2020 ILX

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, front turn signal, brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. The manual lists a 21 W amber rear turn bulb, a 16 W back-up bulb and a 5 W license bulb without bulb numbers.
  • No spare. This vehicle shipped without a spare tire; it carries an inflator and sealant kit instead. Keep the kit in date, or carry a compact spare. Inflator kits on Amazon →
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. Tire chains go on the front tires only (Acura lists SCC Radial Chain SC1032 and SC1036 cables), and a T135/70D17 compact spare was optional in place of the repair kit.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. Key catalogs list this four-button smart key under FCC ID KR5V2X or KR5V21, with memory-specific part numbers.
  • Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
