How We Check Our Data

A wiper size is a small fact, and a small fact wrong is a wasted trip to the store. A lug torque wrong is worse than that. This page is the process every number on FitsYourCar goes through before it is published.

The owner's manual comes first

For the year in question, the owner's manual is the authority on wiper lengths, the bulb chart, tire pressures, lug nut torque and the key fob battery. When a manual and a parts catalog disagree, the manual wins. When a manual and a forum disagree, the forum loses.

Part makers are the authority on their own crosses

Bosch, Trico and Rain-X know which of their blades fit which connector; Sylvania and Philips know their bulb codes; Tire Rack knows which sizes it sells for which trim. We use each maker's fit guide as the source for its own products, and never as the source for the factory specification.

Two sources have to agree, and they have to be independent

A value is published when two independent sources agree on it for that model year. Sites that copy from the same upstream database count as one source, however many of them there are. Where we can find only one source, the value is shown and marked as awaiting a second check, and the page is kept out of search engines until it passes.

Tire sizes are listed by trim, never averaged

Most models ship in two or three tire sizes depending on trim. We list each size with the trims it came on, and we mark one as standard only when a source names it as the base or volume trim's size. If the trims cannot be sorted from the sources, no size is promoted and the page says "sizes by trim."

The connector matters as much as the length

A 26-inch blade with the wrong clip does not go on the car. We record the connector type for every front blade and, where we cannot confirm it, we say so rather than print a length that looks complete and is not.

Sealed lighting is called sealed

Many newer cars have LED headlamps with no replaceable bulb. We record those as sealed units rather than listing an aftermarket "equivalent" that will not fit.

Every model year on its own

Sizes change at redesigns and sometimes mid-cycle. We check each year separately and never carry a value forward because the previous year had it. Where a value did not change, that is recorded as a checked fact, not an assumption.

Blank beats guessed

If we cannot confirm a value to this standard, the row is left out. A missing value is a gap you can fill from your manual; an invented one is the thing this site exists to correct.

What we do not claim

We are an independent reference, not a manufacturer. We do not say "manufacturer-verified." We say what we did: compiled and cross-checked from trusted automotive sources. If you find an error, tell us and we will check it against the sources and correct the page.
