Worth knowing about the 2023 MDX

  • Wipers. Rain-X lists hook arms while RockAuto blades describe pin-type connectors, so choose blades listed for this model.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, front turn signal, rear turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. The LED fog lights are fitted only to some models.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. Chains go on the front tires only with Konig XB-16 265 or Peerless Auto-Trac 232105 cables recommended for the limited clearance, and the T155/85D18 compact spare comes on SH-AWD models and on 2WD models with the optional spare kit.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 94 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
  • Fuel. The manual recommends 91 octane premium and warns that fuel below 87 octane can damage the engine.
