Worth knowing about the 2024 A4

  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 90 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Wheels. The A4 uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts, and the manual gives 90 ft-lb.
  • Roof load. The 198 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The limit covers rack, attachments and cargo together.
  • Garage fit. Allow 15.7 ft of length and 6.7 ft of width with the mirrors out.
  • Dimensions. The manual gives the sedan as 187.5 to 187.8 in long and 56.3 to 56.4 in tall depending on equipment.
  • Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
  • Fuel. Front-wheel-drive models have a 14.3 gal tank; quattro models hold 15.3 gal.
