Worth knowing about the 2020 X3
- Wipers. The connector type is not confirmed, so choose blades listed for this model rather than by length alone.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. Chains go in pairs on the rear wheels only, with 225/60R18 or 245/50R19 tires.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 101 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. BMW uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts; the manual gives 101 lb-ft (140 Nm).
- Garage fit. Allow 15.5 ft of length and 7.1 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Dimensions. GVWR is the xDrive30i figure; the manual rates the sDrive30i at 5,203 lb and the M40i at 5,412 lb.
- Octane. The manual recommends 91 octane for full performance and allows 89. 89 will not harm the engine; the higher grade is a choice, not a requirement.
