The size on the placard inside the driver's door jamb is the one your car left the factory with. Match that, not this table, if they differ; a previous owner may have changed wheels.

Worth knowing about the 2020 X5
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. Chains go in pairs on the rear wheels only, with 255/55R18, 265/50R19 or 275/45R20 tires, and the pressures shown are the manual's two-row-seat figures up to 100 mph (three-row cars run lower).
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 101 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. BMW uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts; the manual gives 101 lb-ft (140 Nm).
- Garage fit. Allow 16.2 ft of length and 7.3 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Dimensions. GVWR is the two-row xDrive40i figure; the manual gives 6,691 lb with three rows and 6,460 lb for the xDrive50i.
- Octane. The manual recommends 91 octane for full performance and allows 89. 89 will not harm the engine; the higher grade is a choice, not a requirement.
