Worth knowing about the 2019 Encore
- Wipers. GM's own replacement blade is 15 inches.
- LED lighting. The daytime running, front turn signal are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Uplevel models have sealed LED headlamps, and the halogen rear turn and back-up bulbs are not named in the manual.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual says not to fit tire chains on this vehicle; wheel-well clearance is too tight.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ4AA) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Key fob. The smart key came in 3- and 4-button versions depending on remote start.
- Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
