Worth knowing about the 2021 XT5

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Wipers. Some fit guides list an 11-inch rear blade where GM specifies 30 cm (12 inches).
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. The manual forbids chains on 235/55R20 tires and allows low-profile chains on the front tires of other sizes.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 140 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (TPMS relearn tool, in the manual's sensor matching process).
  • Roof load. The 220 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Fuel. All-wheel-drive models hold 21.7 gallons, and the manual recommends 93 octane for the 2.0L turbo.
