Worth knowing about the 2008 Impala

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tires. Some LT cars came on P225/55R17 tires, and the manual says not to fit chains on P225/55R17 or P235/50R18 tires.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (the manual's TPMS sensor matching process with a relearn tool).
  • Fuel. The 5.3L V8 recommends 91 octane, with 87 acceptable, and 3.5L cars with NU6 emissions have a 17.0-gallon tank.
