Worth knowing about the 2012 Sonic

  • Wipers. Rain-X lists the front arms as its I&L type rather than a hook, so choose blades listed for this model rather than by length alone.
  • Bulbs. The manual lists 7444 for the stop and tail lamp but bulb makers list 7443, so those positions are left open.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual says not to fit tire chains on this vehicle.
  • Tires. A tire sealant and inflator kit replaces the compact spare on some 1.4L turbo models.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (the manual's TPMS sensor matching process with a relearn tool).
