Worth knowing about the 2009 Town & Country

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Bulbs. Vans with HID headlamps use a D1S low-beam bulb, which the manual says to have replaced by a dealer.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. The manual allows SAE Class S compact chains on P225/65R16 tires only, and says P225/65R17 tires do not have enough clearance.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 95 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The roof rack is optional, and the limit applies only to vans fitted with it.
  • Fuel. The 4.0L V6 lists 87 octane as acceptable and 89 as recommended, and flex-fuel 3.3L models can also run on E85.
