Worth knowing about the 2011 Durango

  • Bulbs. HID headlamps, where fitted, are dealer-serviced; the H11 and 9005 codes are for halogen lamps.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Traction devices go on the rear tires only, and the manual names SAE class S low-profile cables.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 110 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Fuel. The 5.7-liter V8 recommends 89 octane, with 87 acceptable.
