Worth knowing about the 2015 Escape

  • Bulbs. The front turn bulb is a WY21W (7440NA) in high-series lamps and a clear W21W (7440) in low-series lamps, and HID-equipped models use D3S low and H1 high beams.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Cables or chains rated 10 mm or less, which not every Class S chain meets, go on the front axle only with 235/55R17 tires, and the manual forbids them on 235/50R18 and 235/45R19 tires.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Wheels. Retighten the lug nuts to 100 lb-ft within 100 miles after any wheel is removed, as the manual directs.
  • Key fob. Models with push-button start use an Intelligent Access key instead.
  • Roof load. The 100 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The limit drops to 45 lb on models with a moonroof.
  • Fuel. The manual recommends premium fuel for the EcoBoost engines when towing.
