Worth knowing about the 2020 Expedition
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Wipers. Rain-X lists a cross-pin arm for the rear blade.
- LED lighting. The daytime running, dome / map light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Codes are for halogen headlamps and fog lamps and bulb rear lamps (the manual prints HB3 for the 9005 high beam), while vehicles with LED headlamps, LED fog lamps or LED rear lamps have sealed LED units.
- Tires. The manual approves only cable-type or Ford-accessory SAE Class S chains, on the rear tires only and only on 265/70R17 and 275/65R18 tires.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 150 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Retighten the lug nuts to 150 lb-ft within 100 miles after any wheel is removed, as the manual directs.
- Key fob. Key sellers list the four-button smart key as FCC ID M3N-A2C931423 and the five-button key with remote start as M3N-A2C931426, and the non-smart remote takes one CR2032.
- Roof load. The 200 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The limit drops to 125 lb on vehicles with a moonroof.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the Expedition (standard wheelbase) 4x2; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The Expedition MAX holds 27.8 gallons.
