Worth knowing about the 2025 Expedition
- Wipers. Rain-X lists push-button (PTB) front arms, so choose blades listed for this model rather than by length alone.
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, front turn signal, rear turn signal, brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. The manual lists LED reversing lamps only for higher-series models.
- Tires. The manual approves SAE Class S chains of 15 mm or less on the rear wheels only and only on 265/70R17 and 275/65R18 tires, sizes these trims do not list.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 150 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Retighten the lug nuts to 150 lb-ft within 100 miles after any wheel is removed, as the manual directs.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (M3N-A3C108397) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Key fob. Key sellers list part 164-R8354 for the four-button key and 164-R8355 for the five-button key with remote start.
- Roof load. The 200 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The limit drops to 125 lb on vehicles with a glass roof.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The Expedition MAX holds 27.8 gallons.
