Worth knowing about the 2018 F-150
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Wipers. The manual lists Motorcraft WW-2247 as the windshield blade.
- LED lighting. The daytime running, dome / map light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Low and high beam codes are for the standard halogen headlamps; trucks with the optional LED headlamps, taillamps or center brake lamp have sealed LED units, and the center brake lamp bulb is 921 on halogen trucks.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The manual approves SAE Class S chains or cables only on 245/70R17, LT245/70R17, 265/70R17 and 265/60R18 tires, rear axle only, so check the door placard for your size first.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 150 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Retighten the lug nuts to 150 lb-ft within 100 miles after any wheel is removed, as the manual directs.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool, or the manual's deflate-each-tire reset sequence); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. The manual for this year does not name the coin cell for either the keyhead remote or the Intelligent Access key.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the SuperCrew, 5.5-ft box, 4x4; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The 26-gallon tank is the SuperCrew figure; Regular Cab and SuperCab hold 23 gallons and a 36-gallon tank was optional.
- Battery. The manual lists Motorcraft BAGM-48H6-760 as standard and BAGM-94RH7-800 (group H7) as the optional heavy-duty battery.
