Worth knowing about the 2021 F-150
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Wipers. The manual lists Motorcraft WW-2248 as the windshield blade.
- LED lighting. The dome / map light is a sealed LED unit with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Codes are for halogen XL and XLT trucks (Ford prints WTY21W, WT21W/7W and WT21W), except that the WY21W rear turn and W21W reverse bulbs are XL options, as the XLT uses the W21/7W bulb for turn and an LED reverse lamp; Lariat and up have sealed LED lamps, and the center brake lamp is 912.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The manual approves chains 15 mm or smaller only on 245/70R17, 265/70R17, LT265/70R17, 265/60R18 and LT265/70R18 tires, rear axle only, so check the door placard for your size first.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 150 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Retighten the lug nuts to 150 lb-ft within 100 miles after any wheel is removed, as the manual directs.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool, or the manual's deflate-each-tire reset sequence); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. Trucks with push-button start use a smart key that takes one CR2450 cell instead.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the SuperCrew, 5.5-ft box, 4x4; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
- Garage fit. Allow 19.4 ft of length and 8 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The 26-gallon tank is the SuperCrew figure; Regular Cab and SuperCab hold 23 gallons and a 36-gallon tank was optional.
- Battery. The manual lists Motorcraft BAGM-48H6-760 as standard and BAGM-94RH7-800 (group H7) as the optional heavy-duty battery.
