Worth knowing about the 2025 Ranger
- Bulbs. Bulbs are for the XL (low series), mid and high series trucks use sealed LED lamps in most positions, and the manual lists the front turn bulb as WY28/8W.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Ford allows S-class chains with 15 mm links on the rear wheels only, on 255/70R16, 255/70R17, 255/65R18 and LT255/70R17 tires, with a separate chain section for the Raptor's LT285/70R17, and the Raptor carries a full-size matching spare.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Key fob. Base trucks use a CR2032 flip key.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The manual lists 18.76 gal for the 2.3L and 2.7L and 20.34 gal for the Raptor's 3.0L while Ford's spec sheet says 18 gal.
