Worth knowing about the 2012 Civic

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Bulbs. Fog lights are on the Si only, and the front turn bulb is a clear dual-filament 7443.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. Chains go on the front tires only, of the SCC cable types the manual names, and the compact spare is a T135/80D15 (T135/80D16 on the Si).
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. Match the FCC ID (N5F-A05TAA) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
  • Dimensions. The figures above are for the Sedan, LX; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
  • Dimensions. These figures are for the sedan; the two-door Civic Coupe sold alongside it is a different body.
  • Fuel. The Si calls for premium fuel of 91 octane or higher.
