Worth knowing about the 2020 HR-V

  • Wipers. The front blade connector was not confirmed by a blade maker, so check the fit guide before buying.
  • LED lighting. The daytime running, brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. The Touring has sealed LED headlights, fog lights and front turn signals.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare, size T135/90D16. Search Amazon for spare tires →
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Chains go on the front tires only, the manual recommends SCC Radial Chain SC1036 cable chains for 215/55R17 tires, and it says no chains or cables on 225/50R18 tires.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. The EX, EX-L and Touring have the smart key, while the LX and Sport have a remote built into the key head that takes a CR1620.
  • Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The limit is for cargo on the Honda accessory roof rack.
