Worth knowing about the 2012 Elantra

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Wipers. Blade makers list the passenger blade as 13 or 14 in; Rain-X and Valeo list 14.
  • Bulbs. The inside taillights take a small W5W-type (168) bulb, and fog lights are fitted to some trims only.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. Chains go on the front tires only, and the manual says not to fit them to aluminum wheels; cars without the T125/80D15 compact spare carry a Tire Mobility Kit.
  • Wheels. The manual gives a lug nut torque range of 65 to 79 lb-ft.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (a Hyundai dealer initiates new sensors)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
  • Key fob. Match the FCC ID (OSLOKA-360T) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
  • Key fob. Some Limited models have a proximity smart key instead, which also takes a CR2032 cell.
  • Dimensions. The figures above are for the Sedan; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
