Worth knowing about the 2026 Compass

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Tire chains. The manual restricts tire chains on this vehicle. The limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything.
  • Tires. The manual's snow traction table lists no approved tire size or traction device for any trim.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Wheels. Check the lug nut torque again after 25 miles, as the manual directs.
  • Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. Crossbars must be used whenever cargo is carried on the luggage rack.
  • Fuel. The manual says 91-octane premium gives the 2.0L turbo its best performance.
