Worth knowing about the 2017 Sportage

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Bulbs. These are the halogen-headlight bulbs; the SX Turbo's HID headlights take a D3S, and LED fog lights and LED rear lamps are sealed units.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. The manual allows chains on the front tires only (wire chains under 15 mm, not recommended on aluminum wheels), and Kia's press specs list the T135/90D17 compact spare as optional on every trim but the SX Turbo.
  • Wheels. The manual gives a lug nut torque range of 79 to 94 lb-ft.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
  • Key fob. Trims with a smart key and push-button start also use a CR2032.
  • Roof load. The 220 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. Some trims come without roof rails.
  • Dimensions. The figures above are for the 2.4L FWD with roof rails; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
  • Dimensions. AWD models with roof rails stand 65.2 inches tall and have a 4,740 lb GVWR.
