Worth knowing about the 2014 IS
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The daytime running, brake light, tail light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Cars with LED headlamps have sealed LED units in place of the D4S bulbs.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Tire chains go on the rear 17-inch tires only, and the manual says chains cannot be mounted on the staggered 18-inch tires.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a Lexus dealer)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FBA) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. Lexus calls for 91 octane premium and allows 87 only when 91 is not available.
