Worth knowing about the 2024 IS
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, brake light, tail light, reverse light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Cars with LED front turn signals have sealed units in place of the 7440NA bulb.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Tire chains go on the rear tires only, and the manual says chains cannot be mounted on cars with different front and rear tire sizes.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 103 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. From 2021 the IS uses wheel bolts threaded into the hub instead of studs and nuts.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FLB) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Dimensions. The IS 500 is 187.3 inches long.
- Octane. Premium (91 octane) is required, not recommended; the manual says so.
