Worth knowing about the 2021 E-Class

  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 111 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Wheels. The E-Class uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts; tighten them in a diagonal pattern, first to 59 ft-lb and then to the final figure.
  • Roof load. The 221 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Garage fit. Allow 16.3 ft of length and 6.8 ft of width with the mirrors out.
  • Dimensions. 4MATIC models have a larger turning circle of about 39.0 ft.
  • Fuel. The manual calls for at least the octane on the fuel filler flap label and premium 91 AKI for full engine output, allowing regular only as a temporary measure.
