Worth knowing about the 2017 GLE
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 110 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. The GLE uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts, tightened in a crosswise pattern.
- Roof load. The 220 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Garage fit. Allow 15.9 ft of length and 7.1 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Dimensions. With the AIRMATIC or ON&OFFROAD package the maximum height rises to 71.6 or 72.8 in and the maximum ground clearance to 10.0 or 11.2 in.
- Octane. Premium (91 octane) is required, not recommended; the manual says so.
