Worth knowing about the 2012 Maxima
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. The H11 low beam is for halogen headlights; xenon headlights take a D2S.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The compact spare is a T145/80D17, a W-rated P245/40R19 summer tire was also offered, and the manual forbids chains or cables on P245/40R19 tires and says to fit P245/45R18 tires for chains.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 83 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
