Worth knowing about the 2011 Xterra

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Bulbs. One dual-filament 9007 bulb serves both headlight beams.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Chains go on the rear wheels only.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 98 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The 150 lb limit includes the gear basket, which itself carries no more than 30 lb.
