Worth knowing about the 2015 3500
- Bulbs. Codes are for base quad headlamps and base rear lamps; the manual lists long-life H11LL and 9005LL headlamp bulbs, vertical fog lamps take a 9006, and premium LED lamps are sealed.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class U, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. Sizes are the load range E tires in the manual's chain table, not every factory size; U-class chains go on the rear of single-rear-wheel trucks and front and rear of dual-rear-wheel trucks.
- Wheels. Dual-rear-wheel trucks take 129 lb-ft on flat-face nuts per Ram recall 21V-398, which corrected the 140 lb-ft printed in the manual; for single-rear-wheel trucks the owner's manual says 130 lb-ft and the User Guide 135 lb-ft, so check your own truck's documents.
- Octane. The manual recommends 89 octane for full performance and allows 87. 87 will not harm the engine; the higher grade is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The Cummins diesel version runs on ultra-low-sulfur diesel, and tank size depends on cab, bed and engine.
