Worth knowing about the 2009 Forester
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Bulbs. Cars with HID headlights use a dealer-replaced HID low-beam bulb instead of the H11.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual says not to fit tire chains on this vehicle; wheel-well clearance is too tight.
- Tires. The manual says tire chains cannot be used on either the P215/65R16 or the P225/55R17 tires because of limited clearance, and the compact spare is a T155/70D17 at 60 psi.
- Wheels. The manual gives a lug nut torque range of 58 to 72 lb-ft.
- Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. Raised roof rails are standard on every trim except the 2.5X, and the 150-lb limit counts the rack and its cargo together.
- Dimensions. Roof rails add 1 in of height, and the 8.7-in ground clearance is the non-turbo figure.
- Fuel. The 2.5XT turbo requires premium 91 octane.
