Worth knowing about the 2024 Outback
- Wipers. Rain-X lists these front arms as a special wet-arm push-button type, so choose blades listed for this model rather than by length alone.
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, brake light, tail light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual says not to fit tire chains on this vehicle; wheel-well clearance is too tight.
- Tires. The manual says tire chains cannot be used, and a non-chain SAE Class S traction device goes on the front wheels only if its maker recommends it, and Wilderness models carry a full-size 225/65R17 spare.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 89 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. Trims without push-button start use a key with a remote head that takes a CR2025.
- Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The limit covers attachments and cargo on the integrated crossbars, and Wilderness ladder-type rails are rated at 220 lb.
- Dimensions. Wilderness models stand 66.9 inches tall with 9.5 inches of ground clearance.
- Fuel. The manual recommends 91 octane for 2.4L turbo models when towing.
