Worth knowing about the 2011 4Runner
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. Tire chains go on the rear tires only; the manual sets no tire-size limit.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 83 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Aluminum wheels take washer-seat nuts and steel wheels, including a steel spare, take conical-seat nuts, both at the same torque per the owner's manual.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after a pressure change, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch).
- Key fob. Trucks with the smart key system use a smart key that takes a CR1632 instead.
- Roof load. The 120 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The roof rails need two or more Toyota cross rails, or equivalent, before carrying a load.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the SR5 4x2; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
