Worth knowing about the 2015 4Runner

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • LED lighting. The brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Tire chains go on the rear tires only; the manual sets no tire-size limit.
  • Torque. Alloy and steel wheels on this vehicle take different lug nuts and different torque (76 and 83 ft-lbs, per the owner's manual). Check which wheels you have, including the spare, and never swap nuts between them. Tighten in a star pattern with a torque wrench and re-check after 50 miles.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after a pressure change, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch).
  • Key fob. Trucks with the smart key system use a smart key that takes a CR1632 instead.
  • Roof load. The 120 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. The roof rails need two or more Toyota cross rails, or equivalent, before carrying a load.
  • Dimensions. The figures above are for the SR5 4x2; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
