Worth knowing about the 2019 4Runner
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Wipers. The rear blade fits a Toyota rear-arm lock, so buy a rear blade listed for this vehicle.
- LED lighting. The brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The owner’s manual allows tire chains on the rear tires only.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Steel wheels, including a steel spare, take conical-seat nuts torqued to 83 ft-lbf per the owner’s manual.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after rotation, re-initialize the system)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ12BBY) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Key fob. Trucks with the smart key system use a smart key that takes a CR1632 instead.
- Roof load. The 120 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
