Worth knowing about the 2026 4Runner
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, daytime running, rear turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. Only the front turn signal and parking lamps take a replaceable bulb (7444NA); every other exterior light is a sealed LED unit.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Some trucks carry a T175/90D18 compact spare, and the manual says tire chains cannot be fitted to 265/70R18 tires.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 97 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. Steel wheels, including a steel spare, take conical-seat nuts torqued to 154 ft-lbf per the owner’s manual.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FBX) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Roof load. The 135 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The limit is 125 lb on two-wheel-drive models and 165 lb on TRD Pro and Trailhunter.
- Dimensions. TRD Pro and Trailhunter are 79.9 in. wide.
- Fuel. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid uses the same 87-octane fuel and 19.0 gal tank.
