Worth knowing about the 2017 Corolla

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. Some cars take a WY21W front turn bulb instead of the 7444NA, and the SE and XSE have LED back-up lamps.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. The compact spare is a T135/80R16, and tire chains go on the front tires only.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after rotation, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
  • Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ12BEL) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
  • Key fob. Cars with the Smart Key System use a HYQ14FBA smart key that takes a CR2032.
