Worth knowing about the 2022 Highlander
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Bulbs. The parking lamp also takes a 7444NA.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The compact spare is a T165/90D18, and tire chains go on the front tires only.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Key fob. Match the FCC ID (HYQ14FBC) printed on the back of your fob when buying a replacement; the same car can use two fob designs in one year. A new fob still needs programming to the car.
- Key fob. Toyota used a 3-button smart key (8990H-0E010) and a 4-button version with a liftgate button (8990H-0E020).
- Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Roof. The L and LE have no roof rails.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the L FWD; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
