Worth knowing about the 2010 Prius

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • LED lighting. The brake light, tail light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. Cars with LED headlights have sealed LED low beams; the others use an H11 halogen low beam.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare, size T135/80D16. Search Amazon for spare tires →
  • Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
  • Tires. Tire chains go on the front tires only: SAE Class S chains on 15-inch tires, and chains of the dimensions the manual lists on 17-inch tires.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car will not pair on their own by driving; they need a relearn. Method: tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after a pressure change, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch).
  • Dimensions. Turning circle is 36.0 ft with the 17-in. wheels.
