Worth knowing about the 2017 RAV4
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Bulbs. Trims with LED headlights (SE, Limited, Platinum) have sealed LED low and high beams, and the halogen headlight uses one 9012 (HIR2) bulb for low and high beam.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The compact spare is a T165/80R17, and tire chains go on the front tires only.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 76 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after rotation, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Key fob. The remote key FCC ID depends on where the RAV4 was built (HYQ12BDM or GQ4-52T), and Smart Key System cars use a smart key that takes a CR2032.
- Roof load. The 101.9 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the LE FWD; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
- Dimensions. Height is 67.1 in. over the roof rails.
