Worth knowing about the 2006 Tacoma
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- Bulbs. One dual-filament 9003 (HB2) bulb per side serves both the low and high beams.
- Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.

- Tires. Tire chains go on the rear tires only (the manual sets no tire-size limit), and the spare is a full-size tire of the same size.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 85 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. This pattern is for four-wheel-drive and PreRunner trucks (other two-wheel-drive Tacomas use a five-lug wheel), and the manual describes tapered-end wheel nuts without a separate nut type for aluminum wheels.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool (new sensor IDs are registered by a dealer; after a pressure change, re-initialize with the TPMS reset switch)); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. Toyota recommends premium 91 octane for improved performance from the 4.0-liter V6.
