Worth knowing about the 2021 Golf
- Wipers. Volkswagen sells the front blades as a set, part 5GM 998 002.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. The manual allows chains on the front wheels only, with low-profile links no thicker than 15 mm, and the everyday tire pressures are on the door-jamb label.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 88 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. The wheels are held by wheel bolts that thread into the hub rather than by nuts.
- Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
