Worth knowing about the 2019 Tiguan
- Spare. This vehicle carries a compact (temporary) spare, size T145/85R18. Search Amazon for spare tires →
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. The manual allows snow chains on the front wheels only, and only on 215/65 R17 tires on 7J x 17 ET40 rims, with links no thicker than 13.5 mm.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 103 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. The wheels are held by bolts that thread into the hub, and the manual gives one torque for steel and alloy wheels.
- Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Fuel. All-wheel-drive models hold 15.85 gallons.
