Worth knowing about the 2014 3 Series
- Wipers. Rain-X lists a BMW-specific arm (its I&L type) rather than a hook, so choose blades listed for this model rather than by length alone.
- Spare. This vehicle carries run-flat tires and no spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables, on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. The car has run-flat tires and no spare; chains go in pairs on the rear wheels only, on 205/60R16, 225/55R16, 225/50R17 and 225/45R18 tires, and 18-in and 19-in sport options use wider 255-section rear tires.
- Wheels. The 3 Series uses wheel bolts rather than lug nuts, and this manual does not print a tightening torque.
- Roof load. The 165 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
- Garage fit. Allow 15.2 ft of length and 6.7 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Dimensions. xDrive models have a 38.4 ft turning circle.
- Octane. The manual requires 89 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
