Worth knowing about the 2021 Ranger
- Bulbs. LED headlamps and fog lamps are sealed, and the rear lamps come in two types: type 1 takes W21/5W brake and tail, WY21W turn and W21W reverse bulbs, and type 2 takes 3157K bulbs.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Ford allows S-class chains with 15 mm links on the rear axle only, on 255/70R16, 255/65R17, 265/65R17, 265/60R18 and LT265/65R17 tires, plus LT265/70R17.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Dimensions. The figures above are for the SuperCrew 4x4; other body configurations differ in length, wheelbase and weight.
- Garage fit. Allow 17.6 ft of length and 7.2 ft of width with the mirrors out.
- Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
