Worth knowing about the 2014 Q50

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, front turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries run-flat tires and no spare.
  • Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
  • Tires. Every factory tire is a run-flat, SAE Class S chains may go on the rear wheels only, and the manual lists a T145/70R18 compact spare only on cars equipped with one.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
  • Dimensions. Sport models measure 189.1 in long, AWD models stand 57.2 in tall, and a front license plate adds about 0.3 in.
  • Octane. Premium (91 octane) is required, not recommended; the manual says so.
