Worth knowing about the 2017 Q50
- Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
- LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, fog light, front turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
- Spare. This vehicle carries run-flat tires and no spare.
- Tire chains. The manual permits chains or cables of SAE Class S (low clearance), on the drive wheels only, fitted to the standard tire size. Chains for this size on Amazon →
- Tires. Class S chains go on the rear wheels only and never on 265/35R19 rear tires, and a T145/70R18 compact spare comes only with the optional conventional-tire package.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 80 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- TPMS. New sensors on this car need a relearn (tool); they will not pair on their own by driving.
- Dimensions. Sport models measure 189.1 in long, AWD and 2.0t models stand 57.2 in tall, and a front license plate adds about 0.3 in.
- Octane. Premium (91 octane) is required, not recommended; the manual says so.
- Fuel. The manual recommends 93 octane for the 3.0t (VR30DDTT) engine only; 91 is the minimum for every engine.
