Worth knowing about the 2023 Compass

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Wipers. The rear blade's arm connector is not confirmed, so check it before buying.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Bulbs. Codes are for base lamps; premium models have sealed LED front turn signals, fog lamps and tail lamps, and premium tail lamps use a 7440 turn bulb.
  • Tires. The spare varies by model (tire service kit, compact or full-size).
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Wheels. Check the lug nut torque again after 25 miles, as the manual directs.
  • Roof load. The 150 lb roof limit is the dynamic figure for driving and includes the rack itself. It is not a limit for a rooftop tent when parked; the manual gives no static figure.
  • Roof. Crossbars must be used whenever cargo is carried on the luggage rack.
  • Garage fit. Allow 14.5 ft of length and 6.7 ft of width with the mirrors out.
  • Dimensions. Height is with the roof rails.
