Worth knowing about the 2022 Navigator

  • Connector. Both front blades use a j-hook connector. A blade of the right length with the wrong connector will not clip on, so check the connector before you buy.
  • Wipers. The rear blade is Motorcraft WW-1107.
  • LED lighting. The low beam, high beam, daytime running, front turn signal, rear turn signal, brake light, tail light, reverse light, license plate are sealed LED units with no user-replaceable bulb. A failure means replacing the assembly.
  • Spare. This vehicle carries a full-size spare.
  • Tires. The manual approves only SAE Class S cables or chains on the rear tires, and only for 265/70R17 and 275/65R18 tires, sizes the Navigator did not come with.
  • Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 150 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
  • Key fob. Locksmith catalogs list the M3N-A2C940780 key through 2021 and the M3N-A3C108397 key from 2023, so check the FCC ID printed on a 2022 key.
  • Roof. The 2022 manual says not to install crossbars or place any load on the roof if the vehicle has a moonroof; without a moonroof the limit is 175 lb.
  • Octane. The manual requires 87 octane and recommends 91 for full performance. Regular will not harm the engine; premium is a choice, not a requirement.
  • Fuel. The long-wheelbase Navigator L has a 27.8-gallon tank.
