Worth knowing about the 2020 2500
- Bulbs. LED headlamp, fog and premium tail lamp packages are sealed units, and premium backup lamps take a 7440.
- Tire chains. The manual permits tire chains or cables of SAE Class U, within limits on which tires and which wheels. Those limits are in the next note; read them before you fit anything. Search Amazon for tire chains →
- Tires. The manual allows Class U chains on the rear tires only, and only on these sizes.
- Torque. Tighten lug nuts to 130 ft-lbs in a star pattern with a torque wrench, and re-check after the first 50 miles. This figure is from the owner's manual; an impact gun will overshoot it.
- Wheels. The manual gives 130 lb-ft for cone-seat lug nuts and 140 lb-ft for the flanged two-piece nuts of dual-rear-wheel trucks.
- Key fob. The 2020 HD fob moved to a CR2450, where 2013-2019 HD fobs took a CR2032.
- Octane. The manual recommends 89 octane for full performance and allows 87. 87 will not harm the engine; the higher grade is a choice, not a requirement.
- Fuel. The tank holds 31 gallons on short-bed trucks, 32 on long beds and 50 with the optional Crew Cab long-bed tank, and the Cummins diesel version runs on diesel fuel.
